Born ~ March 28, 1931
Date of Passing ~ January 27, 2025

It is with deepest sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Georgina Coulter of Virden, Manitoba, on January 27, 2025, at Virden Westman Nursing Home.

Georgina was born on March 28, 1931, to Russell and Irene Gardiner on the family farm. The third youngest of ten children, she spent her early years helping on the farm, playing ball and sharing her love of singing. She later worked at Murdoch’s Bakery, where she discovered her passion for baking. Among her most beloved creations were her famous buns, bread, and cinnamon buns. She also cared for children as a nanny for neighbouring families.

Georgina met Frank and after seven years together, they were married on November 7, 1953. She became a devoted homemaker and served as a bookkeeper for their company, Coulter Construction. Georgina and Frank had a deep love for children. They welcomed their first son, Larry, on March 23, 1956, followed by their second son, Terry, in November 1958. On August 7, 1963, they were blessed with a daughter, Faye. Sadly, they also experienced the loss of two stillborn sons.

Georgina’s love for children was evident in every aspect of her life. She cared for Teresa and Trent, as well as her nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Wherever there were children, she was there with open arms and a loving heart.

Family and friends were always welcome in Georgina and Frank’s home, which became a gathering place for many cherished moments. Georgina could often be found in the kitchen, baking or preparing snacks, while Frank was always ready to offer a drink.

An avid curler, Georgina was especially proud to be one of the Golden Girls. She was also an active member of the United Church, Royal Purple, SAIL, Legion, and village choir.

She will be lovingly remembered by daughter Faye (Todd), daughter-in-law Ann, grandchildren Christi (Jayson), Derek (Alexx), Kurt (Shaundell), Megan (Trevor), Kirstan (Dylan), Dylan (Jennifer), Kyran (Darby), along with 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sisters Alice (Erle) Kingdon, Dorothy MacDonald, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Frank and her beloved sons, Larry and Terry.

There will be a Celebration of Life held in Georgina's honour at 2pm on Monday, April 14th, 2025 at St. Paul's United Church in Virden. A lunch will follow at the Virden Legion Club Room.
